Sudan is to participate in the first edition of the African School Games, held in Algeria during July 26 to August 5.
Sudan is to compete in six events: football, athletics, gymnastics, table tennis, tennis, and rowing.
The first edition of the African School Games is to attract 1,700 athletes, and is to be held in the cities of Constantine, Annaba, Setif, and Skikda, under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The competition is a joint initiative between the African National Olympic Committees and the International School Sports Federation, following the signing of an agreement during the Paris Olympic Games, 2024.
The first edition in Algeria also aims to be a lever for the development of school sports on the African continent and a platform for cultural and sporting exchange among its youth.
The African body considers it an ambitious vision to provide a model sporting environment and a space for communication among African youth, as well as a launching pad for the continent’s future champions.
