Sudan’s Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning, Mohamed Nour Abdel Daem, met in Istanbul with Dr. Fatih Karahan, Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey, to discuss Sudan’s post-war economic conditions and opportunities for expanded cooperation.
The Minister outlined the extensive damage caused by the conflict, from destroyed bridges and hospitals to major disruptions across the banking and utilities sectors. He emphasized Sudan’s reconstruction needs and the emerging role of the newly formed civilian government, underscoring the importance of Turkish backing to rebuild institutions and strengthen economic governance.
Talks also covered potential collaboration in the minerals sector—especially gold—where Sudan hopes to refine production to international standards and secure global certification to improve its market access.
Turkey’s central bank governor expressed strong solidarity with Sudan and pledged technical assistance, training support, and a review of outstanding debts. Both sides agreed to deepen economic partnership and maintain close coordination to help Sudan restore stability and build a more resilient economy.
