Sudan, China Explore Digital Transformation Partnership

Sudan’s Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Ahmed Dardiri Gandour, held talks with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Licheng, on the sidelines of the China–Africa Digital Cooperation Forum in Addis Ababa.

The two sides discussed Sudan’s national digital transformation strategy, with Gandour stressing the country’s interest in drawing on Chinese expertise to expand telecom infrastructure and build human capacity. The talks also covered regional initiatives that capitalize on Sudan’s strategic location and aim to position it as a hub for digital development.

Gandour also met with officials from the African Telecommunications Union, China’s telecom science academy, Ethiopia’s innovation ministry, and UNDP’s Africa office, underscoring Sudan’s commitment to linking digital transformation with citizen services and national economic growth.
