Sudan and Russia Strengthen Ties with Central Bank Partnership

Moscow hosted the opening of the eighth session of the Sudanese-Russian Ministerial Committee on Monday, marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.

Hind Metana, Sudan’s Deputy Minister of Minerals and chair of the committee’s technical arm, underscored the government’s determination to expand relations with Russia across economic and resource-based sectors. She stressed that the effective management of Sudan’s natural wealth is central to the country’s development goals.

Sudan’s Ambassador to Russia, Mohammed Al-Ghazali, echoed the commitment to deepen ties, noting that post-war reconstruction makes international partnerships more vital than ever.

The Deputy Foreign Minister praised Moscow’s consistent support in international platforms, including the UN Security Council, and urged that Russia be formally recognized as a strategic ally.

Renad Aglawin of the Ministry of Natural Resources confirmed that discussions are underway to establish direct cooperation between the Central Bank of Sudan and the Central Bank of Russia, paving the way for joint projects in industry, trade, energy, and mining.
