Liverpool have suffered a major setback with goalkeeper Alisson Becker ruled out for around six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in the midweek Champions League defeat to Galatasaray. The Brazilian was forced off in Istanbul, with summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili stepping in between the posts.
The injury means Alisson is set to miss a string of crucial fixtures, starting with Saturday’s clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Reds will also face Manchester United, Eintracht Frankfurt, Brentford, and Crystal Palace during his absence, before hosting Aston Villa and Real Madrid in early November. The schedule culminates with a high-profile meeting against Manchester City at the Etihad.
Manager Arne Slot will now rely on Mamardashvili to fill the void, while Brazil will also be without their No.1 for upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan. Alisson is expected to return after the next international break, provided his recovery stays on track.
