Sudan’s Energy Minister, Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, affirmed on Sunday that obstacles will not hinder cooperation between Khartoum and Juba in the oil and energy sectors.
During a meeting in Port Sudan with South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Monday Semaia Kumba, Minister Ahmed highlighted the importance of maintaining pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants despite existing challenges. He also stressed the continuation of electrical connectivity between the two countries.
Ahmed offered full cooperation in technical expertise exchange, personnel training, and resolving operational issues. Both sides discussed coordination between national companies and ways to attract international investment in the sector.
Sudan’s Ambassador to Juba, Issam Karrar, described the visit as historic, noting that it is the first visit by a South Sudanese Foreign Minister since the outbreak of the war. He underscored the brotherly relations and extensive cooperation between the two nations.
