Minister of Energy Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed has reiterated the ministry’s unwavering support for agricultural activities across Sudan, emphasizing the availability of fuel and energy to ensure the success of the winter farming season.
During a meeting with White Nile State Governor Lt. Gen. Qamar Al-Din Mohamed Fadl Al-Moula, the minister discussed energy and fuel supply for agricultural operations and the installation of transformers for hospitals and dialysis centers.
He stated that White Nile State is among the key regions targeted for solar and wind power generation and possesses notable petroleum and gas reserves. The minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to expand hydropower due to its cost efficiency compared to thermal generation, while acknowledging the deliberate destruction of many power stations and control centers. He pledged close cooperation with state authorities to bolster agriculture and healthcare.
The governor affirmed that his visit aimed to strengthen coordination with the ministry as part of the state’s reconstruction drive. He said White Nile, being largely agricultural, is working to attract industrial investments and restore river transport links with South Sudan.
