Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, has pledged full support to the Customs Forces, promising to provide the resources and assistance needed to strengthen their role in protecting both the economy and society.
On Wednesday, the minister inspected a significant seizure carried out in the Red Sea State by the Anti-Smuggling Administration, working in coordination with the General Intelligence Service. The operation resulted in the interception of a boat in open waters that was being used by a criminal network to transport large quantities of illegal materials.
The seized items included 400 kilograms of crystal meth, 2 kilograms of heroin, two Kalashnikov rifles, 188 rounds of ammunition, and a Thuraya satellite communication device. Authorities described the operation as a major success in disrupting organized smuggling activity along Sudan’s coastline.
During his visit to the Anti-Smuggling headquarters in the Transit neighborhood of Port Sudan, the minister praised the Customs Forces for their vigilance. He stressed that drug and weapons trafficking poses serious threats to youth, families, public health, and the national economy, and that combating it requires strong cooperation at both the national and international levels.
