Sudan’s Ahmed Abdel Qader Secures Fourth Place at Islamic Solidarity Games

Sudan’s karate athlete Ahmed Abdel Qader placed fourth at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh after a difficult contest against a top-ranked Turkish opponent.

Competing in the under-75 kg division, Abdel Qader opened his campaign with a strong showing against a Kuwaiti competitor, but the match ultimately went in the opponent’s favor due to superior physical conditioning. He bounced back in his second bout, advancing after his Kenyan opponent withdrew due to injury.

Abdel Qader said he was satisfied with his performance, emphasizing the value of competing against world-ranked fighters. He expressed hope of bringing home a medal for Sudan in future events and reaffirmed his determination to continue improving.

The Sudanese delegation was represented by Professor Mahmoud Al-Sir, Secretary General of the Sudanese Olympic Committee; technical expert Mohamed Saleh Wadaa; and delegation head Al-Moez Abbas.

In the women’s under-68 kg category, Sudan’s Fatima Youssef was defeated by her Kenyan opponent.

Wushu Kung Fu athlete Habib Mohamed has also arrived in Riyadh, accompanied by coach Al-Taj Nouri, to join the Sudanese contingent.
