Irrigation Ministry Issues Red Alert for Flash Flooding in Three States

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has placed the White Nile, Khartoum, and Nile River states on red alert, warning of possible flash flooding from Saturday through Monday evening.

According to the ministry’s Early Warning Unit, rising water levels from the Blue and White Niles could cause severe flooding along the Nile belt. Residents in low-lying areas have been urged to evacuate, move crops and livestock to higher ground, and store essential supplies—including food, water, and documents—in waterproof containers.

The ministry also cautioned that floodwaters could reach power lines, posing a deadly risk of electrocution. Citizens were advised to closely follow official guidance and evacuation orders.
