Prime Minister Kamil Idris has departed for New York to lead Sudan’s delegation at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which opens Tuesday.
According to information obtained by Sudanhorizon, Idris is expected to hold high-level talks with members of the U.S. administration on the sidelines of the gathering. Diplomatic sources further indicated that the Sudanese delegation will engage with several African leaders during the week.
Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem, who arrives Monday, will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts, while Idris is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s address before the Assembly on September 27. His remarks will focus on the ongoing conflict in Sudan, its humanitarian toll, the destruction of national infrastructure, and the role of external actors in prolonging the war.
The Sudanese delegation also includes Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of International Cooperation, and other relevant institutions.
