Authorities Intercept Over 50kg of Smuggled Gold in Atbara

The General Intelligence Service in Atbara has confiscated more than 50 kilograms of smuggled gold during a recent operation.

River Nile State Governor Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, accompanied by the state’s Intelligence Director Yasir Ali Bashir and the Atbara security committee, inspected the seized gold at the agency’s headquarters.

The Governor emphasized the need for stronger legislation and harsher penalties to deter smuggling, describing it as a threat to the national economy. He praised the vigilance and commitment of the Intelligence Service, noting this is the second gold smuggling attempt thwarted under his watch.

In recognition of their efforts, the Governor announced incentives for the forces involved in the successful operation.
