Egypt has agreed to accelerate residency procedures for Sudanese nationals, Sudan’s ambassador to Cairo, Imad Adawi, confirmed. The move follows requests from the Supreme Council of the Sudanese Community.
According to Adawi, the new measures will allow residency permits to be processed within two weeks, reduce security clearance procedures to three days once documents are complete, and permit Sudanese children to enroll in Egyptian schools even before residency formalities are finalized.
The ambassador urged Sudanese community leaders to encourage compliance with Egyptian laws and to align community demands with the host country’s legal framework. He also stressed the importance of revitalizing “Beit Al-Sudan” as a center for social initiatives and capacity-building activities.
