 Khartoum State Launches Major Campaign to Fight Disease Vectors

A major public health campaign to combat disease vectors was officially launched today, Saturday, at the General Secretariat of the Government of Khartoum State. The initiative, aimed at protecting citizens’ health, will operate under the slogan “Continuous Control… for Stable Health.”

The campaign was launched under the patronage of Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, with the presence of Vice Admiral Engineer Advisor Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, member of the Sovereignty Council, and Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza.

Vice Admiral Ibrahim Jaber praised the efforts of the “white army” and expressed confidence that the campaign would reassure citizens. He highlighted the role of mobile laboratories affiliated with the Stac Laboratory and emphasized the importance of providing medical services amid challenging circumstances.

Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim explained that the campaign, scheduled to run for three months, will cover seven localities, twenty-four administrative units, and 1,980 neighborhoods, with the participation of 2,500 staff members. The initiative is fully supported by the Federal Ministry of Finance and includes the provision of pesticides, essential supplies, and laboratory vehicles, with assistance from the World Health Organization and IGAD.

Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza praised the workers and the federal and state health ministries, emphasizing that the current stage marks a period of reconstruction. He also acknowledged the Supreme Committee of the Environment Authority and the Sovereignty Council for their support in improving the environment.

Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Al-Amin, Director General of Health in Khartoum State, highlighted the dedication of medical staff during the war and stressed the campaign’s critical role in improving public health and combating epidemics.
